발달장애 자녀의 성인기 자립을 위한 엄마학습공동체의 역할

국문 초록

본 연구는 발달장애 자녀의 성인기 자립교육을 위한 엄마학습공동체의 활동과 그 과정 속에서 엄마들의 역할이 어떻게 발현되고 있는가를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 발달장애인 엄마들이 결성한 00사회적 협동조합을 연구대상으로 질적 사례연구를 실시하였다. 연구 결과 발달장애인 엄마들의 학습공동체 구성은 장애자녀와의 소통을 위한 ‘필요에 의한 배움’에서 출발하였으며, 이후 성인기 자녀의 자립 문제 해결을 위한 조합형태의 교육시설을 설립, 마치 ‘먼저 움직임의 보상’처럼 사회적 기업으로까지 성장하였다. 그 과정에서 엄마들은 자발적 집단학습을 통해 아이들의 선생님이 되었으며 발달장애인 특성을 잘 이해하는 심리적, 정신적 지지자의 역할을 수행하고 있었다. 또한 발달장애인의 자립교육을 기획·운영하는 평생교육사 이자 ‘장애가 장애가 아닌 일터’를 만들어 발달장애인의 경제활동을 유지시키고자 노력하는 사회적 기업가 정신도 발휘하고 있었다. 마지막으로 구성원들은 그들과 같은 학습공동체가 만들어지길 바라며 발달장애인 부모들의 퍼실리테이터의 역할을 수행하고 있었다. 본 연구에서는 발달장애인 자립교육을 위한 그들 엄마들로 구성된 학습공동체가 그 실천영역에서 능동적으로 변화하고 다양한 역할을 수행하고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 또한 공동체 활동과정에서 발달장애인의 성인기 평생교육에 대한 시사점과 사회적 협동조합 성장에서의 평생교육 역할도 찾아볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore activity of mothers’ learning community and how their roles are crystalized to educate their children with development disability for the self-reliance in the adulthood. Thus, a qualitative case study was carried out targeting 00 social co-operative. The research findings showed their learning community was derived from ‘Learning by Necessity’ to communicate with children with disability, and then, co-operative education facility was established, which evolved into a social enterprise like ‘a reward for taking the first step.’ Meanwhile, the mothers have become teachers through voluntary group learning and played roles as psychological and moral supporter for their child with development disability. Also as lifelong educator, they showed social entrepreneurship to make workplace in which ‘the disability is no longer disability’ and performed role as facilitator, looking forward to coming up with learning community like them. This study discovered that learning community where consists of mothers for the self-reliance education for the development disability could be enthusiastically changed and play various roles. Also, it suggested implication on lifelon education for the development disability and its role in the growth of social co-operative.
