전라도 유교지식인의 동학농민군 인식과 대응

영문 초록

This study shows recognitions and countermeasures of Confucian scholars of Jeolla Province about troops of Donghak(東學) peasant. Results of the study are as follows. In the first, all Donghak relevant records which recorded by Confucian scholars of Jeolla Province were 45 cases (By October 2008). If more accurate research is conducted, record of the newly discovered potential was confirmed. Second, Confucian scholars of Jeolla Province excluded and oppressed toward Donghak through strengthening of Rural autonomous regulation and roles of village headman and presenting a memorial to the king from the early 1860s, early missionary Donghak to 1892-3, Donghak followers rose up the Remission movement of the founder. However, suppressions and exclusions of Confucian scholars of Jeolla Province about Donghak were started since the mid-late 1880s. It was late compared to Gyeongsang Province and ChungChong Province. Relatively late missionary for the Donghak was a reason. Third, Parkgihyeon(朴冀鉉) who was a Confucian scholar in Gangjin(康津) shows a representative example of suppressions and exclusions of Confucian scholars of Jeolla Province. Parkgihyeon who was origin of military nobility wanted to devoted doctrines of Chu-tz in his life times. However, he was a unique and interesting Confucian intellectual as an intellectual who lived premodern society and modern society. He organized groups of rural autonomous regulation to prevent rapidly spread of Donghak and wanted to oppress troops of Donghak peasant in 1894. But he did not oppressed directly. Instead, he wanted to record trends of rural community in southwestern Joelle Province from the end of the 19th century to early 20th century. That was mainly dealt process of war and countermeasures of Confucian intellectuals. It was similar to attitude of Hwang-hymn(黃玹),’s Oh-Ha-Ki-Mun(梧下記聞).
