국문 초록

자국어 글쓰기와 외국어로서의 글쓰기에서 다섯 문단 구조는 폭넓게 사용되지만 정작 다섯 문단 구조에 관한 학습자의 인식은 알려진 바가 많지 않다. 이 글은 대학 정규 교육과정에 재학 중인 한국어 학습자의 인식을 살펴보고, 우리 작문교육에서 다섯 문단 구조가 어떤 위치와 양상을 보이는지 살펴보려는 목적에서 작성하였다. 본고에서는 순차적 탐구 혼합 연구 방법을 사용하여 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 먼저 한국어 학습자가 생성한 텍스트를 수집하여 다섯 문단 구조 활용 양상을 검토하고, 이어 심층 인터뷰를 통하여 참여자의 인식을 살펴보았다. 다섯 문단 구조가 내포하는 장단점에 관한 온전한 이해가 이루어질 때 원래 의도했던 교육적 효과를 유도하고 생산적인 작문 교수학습을 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 이 논문은 외국어로서의 한국어 글쓰기 교수학습 방법론과 다섯 문단 글쓰기 교육과 관련한 이해와 논의를 풍성하게 이끌었다는 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

In spite of the wide-spread use of five-paragraph in writing instruction, regardless of L1 or L2 Korean written texts, there does not seem to be sufficient awareness in the learners’ perceptions toward the five-paragraph theme. This research explores the perceptions of Korean language learners at the university level. Korean language learners’ written texts and interview data were collected and analyzed using an exploratory sequential mixed method. I argue that educators should be aware of the benefits and problems stemming from teaching writing relying on the five-paragraph theme. This study can inform our understanding of current writing approaches relevant to Korean language education as a second language and writing instruction.
