중학생들의 자유학기제 경험에 관한 질적연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 자유학기제 4개 하위영역 진로탐색활동, 주제선택활동, 예술·체육활동, 교육과정 내 동아리활동 전체의 모습과 종단연구적인 성격의 모습을 엿볼 수 있는 연구로 첫째, 중학생들이 경험한 자유학기제는 무엇인가? 둘째, 중학생들이 경험한 자유학기제의 특성은 무엇이고 그 특성의 이론적, 실제적 의미는 무엇인가?를 연구문제로 정하였다. 자료 수집기간은 2019년 8월부터 2019년 12월까지 약 5개월로 참여관찰과 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과 ‘나를 찾기’, ‘시야 넓히기 , ‘성숙된 자아’, ‘걸림돌’의 모습을 경험하고 있었다. ‘나를 찾기’의 모습은 ‘나는 누구인가? 와 ‘나의 꿈찾기’의 모습으로 나타났고, ‘시야 넓히기 의 모습은 ‘변화된 수업’과 ‘생생한 체험’의 모습을, ‘성숙된 자아’의 모습은 ‘길러진 인성’, ‘자기주도학습능력 향상’의 모습을, ‘걸림돌’은 ‘막연한 공부’, ‘기승전입시’의 모습으로 나타나고 있었다. 자유학기제가 성공적인 교육제도로 정착하기 위해서 입시에 대한 변화 필요성과 자유학기제 운영과 취지에 대한 교사와 학부모, 학생의 이해가 필요함을 시사하고 있다.

영문 초록

This study provides a glimpse of the four sub-regional career exploration activities, topic selection activities, art and sports activities, the whole club activities in the curriculum, and the end-to-end research character. The research questions are as follows. First, what is the free semester system experienced by middle school students? Second, what are the characteristics of the free semester system experienced by middle school students and what are the theoretical and practical implications of the characteristics? The data collection period was about five months from August 2019 to December 2019, with participation observation and in-depth interviews conducted. As according to the study, middle school students were experiencing Finding Me , ‘Broadening the field of view , ‘Mature Self and ‘A stumbling block through free semester activities. ‘Finding Me’ showed up about ‘Who am I’and ‘Finding My Dreams’. ‘Broadening the field of view’ was showing ‘Changed Classes’ and ‘A vivid experience’. ‘Mature Self’ was showing ‘Grown personality’ and ‘Improved self-directed learning ability’. ‘A stumbling block’ was showing ‘Vague study’ and ‘The first and last Entrance exam’. In order for the free semester system to settle down as a successful education system, it suggests the need for a change in entrance exams and an understanding of teachers, parents and students about the operation and purpose of the free semester system.
