국문 초록

본 연구는 ICT를 활용한 화상 기반 원격협력(telecollaboration)을 통한 영어학습이 대학생 학습자의 창의성 계발에 미치는 영향을 심도있게 탐구하고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 한국 K대학교와 미국 W대학교에서 각각 영어와 한국어를 목표어로 학습하는 학생들이며, 이들은 1주일에 1회씩 정도 수업과 연관하여 다채널의 화상 기반 원격협력 학습에 참여하였다. 본 연구는 미시민족학적 담화분석(microethnographic discourse analysis)의 방법을 활용하여 다채널의 화상 기반 원격협력 학습에서 발생하는 학생들의 상호작용과 창의적 요소 계발에 대해 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 화상 기반 원격협력 학습은 학생들의 공동 과업 수행을 촉진하는 과정에서 나타나는 협력적 창의성을 바탕으로 학습자의 창의적 요소인 발산적 사고 및 수렴적 사고를 가능하게 하고, 창의적 문제 해결 능력 향상에 도움이 되는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 기존의 원격협력 학습이 대부분 학습자의 외국어 학습 능력과 상호문화소통 능력 향상에 집중해 왔던 것과 다른 새로운 교육적 활용 가능성을 보여 준다는 면에서 그 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of telecollaboration through technology-based multimodal videoconferencing in English language learning for learners creativity development. The participants of the study are college students learning English or Korean as their target language at K University in Korea or W University in the United States, respectively. They participated in multimodal telecollaborative class once a week. By using microethnographic discourse analysis, the study analyzes the learners interactions and the development of creative thinking elements occurring in multimodal telecollaborative learning. The results of this study have showed that multimodal video-based telecollaboration promotes the process of the participants’ collaborative task performance. It also facilitates developing creative thinking elements, such as divergent thinking skills, convergent thinking skills, and creative problem solving abilities. These results are significant in terms of shedding light on new implications of telecollaboration in English learning, since the previous research on telecollaboration has much focused on linguistic development and intercultural communicative competence.
