국문 초록

본 연구에서는 어머니의 성격특성과 유아 창의성 간의 관계에서 나타나는 창의적 가정환경의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 위해 수도권 소재 유아교육기관에 재원중인 만4세, 5세, 6세 유아 269명과 그들의 어머니를 대상으로 어머니의 성격5요인(신경증, 외향성, 개방성, 친화성, 성실성), 창의적 가정환경(아동존중, 풍부한 학습환경, 독립심 자극), 유아 창의성을 측정하였다. 수집된 자료는 Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 매개효과 검증방법과 Sobel Test(Sobel, 1982)를 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 어머니의 개방성과 성실성은 창의적 가정환경의 하위요인(아동존중, 풍부한 학습환경, 독립심 자극) 모두를 매개하여 유아 창의성에 긍정적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로, 창의적 가정환경의 세 하위요인 모두 어머니의 개방성과 유아 창의성 간의 관계는 부분매개하고 성실성과 유아 창의성 간의 관계는 완전매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 어머니의 신경증과 외향성은 창의적인 가정환경 하위요인 중 풍부한 학습환경에 유의미한 영향력을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 학술적, 실제적 함의와 향후 연구에 대한 방향성을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study examined the mediating effects of the creative home environment in the relationship between mothers’ personality traits and children’s creativity. Participants were 269 children at the age of 4-6 years and their mothers. We measured mothers’ Big 5 personality traits (neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness), creative home environment, and children’s creativity. The collected data was analyzed by using the Baron and Kenny’s (1986) method and Sobel Test (Sobel, 1982). Results showed that mothers’ openness and conscientiousness influenced children’s creativity significantly through three sub-constructs of the creative home environment (respect for the child, enriched learning environment, and stimulation of independence). Specifically, three sub-constructs of the creative home environment had a partial mediating effect between mothers’ openness and children’s creativity. However, the association between mothers’ conscientiousness and children’s creativity was fully mediated by the three sub-constructs. Mothers’ neuroticism and extraversion significantly influenced the enriched learning environment of the creative home environment. Theoretical and practical implications and future directions were discussed.
