발달장애인 및 가족의 도서관 서비스에 대한 인식과 지원 요구

국문 초록

본 연구는 발달장애인 및 그 가족과의 면담을 통해 발달장애인의 도서관 서비스에 대한 인식을 이해하고, 도서관 서비스 이용에 필요한 지원 요구를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위하여 도서관 이용 경험이 있는 발달장애인 4명과 그 가족 14명을 연구 참여자(총 18명)로 선정하였다. 자료 수집을 위해 발달장애인의 경우 개별면담으로 진행하였고, 발달장애인 가족을 대상으로는 개별면담 및 포커스그룹면담이 이루어졌다(개별면담 5회, 포커스그룹면담 3회). 연구는 2019년 5월부터 8월까지 3개월에 걸쳐 진행하였다. 질적자료는 범주 확산과 지속적 비교방법을 통해 분석되었으며, 그 결과 5개의 대주제와 10개의 하위주제가 도출되었다: 1) 물리적 장벽, 2) 심리적 장벽, 3) 도서와 프로그램 확충, 4) 공간 및 환경 개선, 5) 통합과 공유의 문화 조성. 연구결과를 바탕으로 발달장애인의 도서관 서비스 이용을 활성화하기 위한 시사점 및 후속연구를 위한 제언이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to understand perceptions of individuals with developmental disabilities and families on library services and to explore support needs for library services. Four individuals with developmental disabilities(2 adolescents, 2 adults) and 14 families participated in individual interviews and focus group interviews. The study was conducted over 3 months from May to August 2019. Five main themes and 10 sub-themes emerged through the data analysis including physical barrier, psychological barrier, the development of books and programs, improvement of space and environment, inclusion and sharing culture. Practical implications for enhancing library services and future areas for future research are discussed. The better understating of perceptions of individuals with developmental disabilities and families on libraries seems to provide essential basic information to improve library services.
