대학 교양교육에서 외국인 유학생 대상 미술교과 수업 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 외국인 유학생 전용교과로 개설된 대학 교양 <미와 예술의 이해> 수업에 대한 학습자 반응을 실증적으로 분석함으로써, 대학 교양 미술교육에서 교수 학습전략 수립 및 후속연구를 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 것이다. 자료 수집을 위해 수강 전·후 2차에 걸친 설문조사를 시행하였고, 응답 즉시 회수하여 1차 자료로 삼았으며 내용분석 방법을 적용하였다. 미술 관련 기존 인식 조사를 위한 1차 설문 결과, 학습자의 약 40%가 미술에 흥미와 관심을 보였으며, 미술에 대한 개념 인식은 제한적 양상을 보였다. 본 수업과 관련된 2차 설문에서는 제시된 교육 목표를 달성하였다는 응답은 32%에 불과하였으며, 약 26%의 학습자만이 수업내용의 70% 이상 이해하였다고 응답하였고, 학습 분량이 많다는 응답은 35%로 나타났다. 가장 기억에 남는 교육내용은 현대미술 동향의 이해를 위한 미술관 탐방을 선택하였으며, 좋았던 내용으로는 한국미술 관련, 교육방법에 있어서는 현장 학습과 토론 학습을 가장 선호하였다. 아쉬운 점으로는 학습 내용이 너무 어렵고, 미술 전문용어에 대한 인식 부족 등 내용적 측면이 가장 많았으며, 바라는 점으로는 현장 학습과 창작 활동의 기회 확대 등으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 미술에 대한 개념 인식은 1차 설문 결과와는 달리 다양한 응답을 얻을 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to decipher empirically learners’evaulations to university liberal arts curriculum designed specifically for international students titled in order to provide foundational data for teaching strategies for lecturers and future studies in this field. Data were collected through surveys administered before and after the course and processed by inductive content analysis. According to the first survey administered, survey content being geared towards finding out learner’s level of awareness in arts, 40% of the respondents replied they had interest in the arts, however learner’s awareness in arts concepts were limited. Survey results administered after the course showed merely 32% of the learners responded they had achieved their learning goals, 26% responded they understood more than 70% of the course material and 35% remarked that there was too much course content. As for the most memorable content, learners chose the museum field trip organized with a purpose to aid in understanding contemporary art. For the content they liked, learners selected Korean Arts and for education methods they favored, learners chose field trips and debates. On feedback for areas of improvement, learners responded that course content was hard and due to lack of background knowledge in art terminology, there was challenge in learning. Learners hoped that in the future there would be an expansion of opportunities in field trips and creative activities. Lastly, in contrast to the first survey, awareness in arts concepts recorded diverse responses in the second survey.
