춤에서의 ‘도덕적 상상력’과 도덕에 있어 ‘미적 상상력’

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 Johnson의 ‘도덕적 상상력’이라는 인지모형을 차용해 춤에 내포된 도덕적 사고과정과 도덕에 내포된 미학적 측면을 탐색해보았다. 흔히 미학적 요소라 부르는 ‘상상력’, ‘직관’, ‘체화된 인지’등은 자연적이면서도 해석적이어서 이성적 사고에 의해 미처 고려되지 못한 지식까지도 흡수하는 창조의 과정을 가진다. 이러한 맥락에서 도덕과 춤에서의 미학적 인지요소들 역시 비판적 사고의 수단으로서 인지적 확장방식에 기여하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 결국 춤 속에 담겨있는 상상력은 예술적 위상을 넘어 도덕적 차원에서 윤리적 숙고를 제공한다는 점과 도덕적 추론은 미학적 상상력에 기초한다는 사실을 논증해 볼 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 도덕과 춤간의 인지적 연결성을 제고해 볼 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study explored the moral thought process embedded in dance and the aesthetic aspect in morality, by borrowing the cognitive model of Moral Imagination from Johnson. Imagination , intuition and embodied cognition , commonly called aesthetic factors are naturalistic and interpretive. They, therefore, absorb even knowledge which cannot be considered by rational thinking in the process of creation. In this context, aesthetic factors as measures of critical thinking in morality and dance were also found to contribute to cognitive extension. It could thus demonstrate that imagination contained in dance provides ethical deliberation at the moral level, beyond its artistic status, and that moral inference is based on aesthetic imagination. From the findings, it was possible to enhance the cognitive connectivity between morality and dance.
