영문 초록

To provide valid and fundamental information for planning convenient living facilities in residential areas, this study aimed to assess the proximity to those facilities and evaluated the importance level per facility type. This study set two hypotheses based on research model established by Aoyama (1986) and proved them. This study collected 2,230 survey responses and interviewed 4 experts. Three major findings are as follows: First, the hypothesis 1 was accepted. Users’ satisfaction levels with the desired proximity to convenient facilities differed depending on the facility type. The proximity index decreased when the actual distance to facilities increased. Second, the hypothesis 2 was accepted. Users’ satisfaction levels with the desired proximity differed depending on sociodemographic characteristics. Significant correlations between sociodemographic characteristics and convenient living facilities were proved. Third, users (or survey participants) desired to be close to living and transportation facilities such as convenient stores, bus stops, and dry cleaning services. It was acceptable to be comparably farther from libraries, big markets, movie theaters. Farther distances from these facilities did not significantly decrease their satisfaction levels.
