영문 초록
The current nature of South Korean higher education has begun a shift from generalized education to a direction of more specific preparation for finding a job. The effectiveness of universities in equipping graduates for employment has become an important debate in many sectors of the educational and corporate world. As a result, discussions on infusing career development into the learning curricula have gained momentum. However, there are no comprehensive guidelines for infusing career education, so the question remains as to what is the most effective manner to infuse career development in Korean higher education. Traditionally the knowledge and skills associated with career development have been achieved through stand alone career services or on an informal basis through faculty advising and extracurricular activities. Recent studies have shown the effectiveness of implementing career infusion into General Education and English-language classes. To be effective in supporting students to become capable graduates with career development skills, it is necessary that institutes of higher education infuse career competencies into courses by rethinking what a graduate needs to know be able to do upon graduation. This paper will outline an evidence-based approach for infusing career development into the curriculum.
