영문 초록

Purpose - A Study on Development Stages and Future Prospects of Korea’s Retail Industry, was conducted with purposes as follows, learn the development stages of Korean retailing industry compare to the global stage, and find ways of improvement of Korea’s retail industry in the future. Design/methodology/approach - This study was designed as a descriptive study, reviews literature, and mainly depends on secondary data. Findings - The result of the study shows future retailing will be driven by the new technologies including technologies of 4th industrial revolution. And give us suggestions for the future industrial policies. Now is the time that policy support is needed, in order to improve social efficiency for consumer and retail industry through retail advancement and enhance overall social welfare by reforming information asymmetry. Research implications or Originality - As a pragmatic research, this study provides policy suggestions for governments and businesses. For governments, suggests to adopt promotion policies than regulation policies. And for businesses, emphosis to go platform retailing than offline retailing.
