만 5세 유아의 교실 내 흥미영역 재구성 경험 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 만 5세 유아가 자신의 학급 내 흥미영역 재구성 과정에 참여하는 경험을 탐색하는 것이다. 흥미영역 공간구성에 참여하는 유아의 활동 및 상호작용이 달라지는 모습을 통해 유아의 경험을 탐구하였다. 이를 위해 2018년 5월 10일 부터 7월 16일(11주간)까지 주 1-2회 학급 내 유아와 담임교사를 참여관찰하였으며 담임교사 대상으로 반구조적 면담을 함께 실시하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 유아는 흥미영역을 유아가 변화시킬 수 있는 공간으로 재인식하기 시작하였으며 이전과는 다른 방법으로 놀잇감과 흥미영역을 새롭게 접근하였으며, 다양한 또래관계, 합리적인 의사결정, 상호존중과 문제해결력을 연습하는 경험을 가졌으며 흥미영역 구성에 대한 교사의 인식 변화로 유아는 자율성과 참여를 존중하는 분위기를 경험하는 것으 로 나타났다. 흥미영역을 구성하는 원리가 보편적일 수 없으며 흥미영역, 넓게는 유아가 이용하는 공간이 유아의 맥락에 따라 다양한 모습으로 존재할 수 있음을 보여준다. 재구성한 흥미영역은 또 다른 해답이 아니라 유아가 주체적으로 참여할 수 있 는 경험을 제공하는 측면에서 유의미하다.

영문 초록

The study aims to explore the five year children s experiences of reconstructing the interest areas in their own classroom. It searches children s experiences through the activities and interactions which the children had while they participate on reconstructing the interest areas. To perform the study, both participant observation toward children and teacher in the classroom and semi-structured interviews with the teacher were done from May, 10 to July, 16, 2018 during 11 weeks (1-2 times/week). The research results drawn from the study are as follows. Children started to recognize play material and the interest areas which can be changed by them. Their approach to the play materials was different from the way they had. The children experienced the diverse peer relationships and learned the process of rational decision making, respect, and problem solving. Lastly, the children experienced the autonomous and respectful atmosphere. This study shows there is no universe rule to construct the interest areas and the children s participation is important to allow their interests and experiences to be included to the interest areas.
