영문 초록

This study aimed to examine the sense of vocation of Taekwondo leaders through their living experience, that is, cases based on facts and essentials, using a narrative approach, and to obtain data about Taekwondo leaders’ more existential and realistic perceptions. To achieve these goals, Taekwondo leaders with more than 15 years of teaching experience were selected as participants using a purposeful sampling method, and data were collected through in-depth interviews. The collected data were analyzed using a narrative approach, and the following findings were obtained. First, Taekwondo leaders’ sense of vocation was found to exist in two different forms: the personal sense of vocation and the social sense of vocation. Second, their personal sense of vocation was expressed in terms such as ‘ educator,’ ‘sense of duty,’ ‘pride,’ etc., while their social sense of vocation was expressed in terms such as ‘businessman,’ ‘educator in charge of character education,’etc. This study found that Taekwondo leaders felt their sense of vocation differed depending on their personal experience and situations. It is proposed that further studies be conducted in order to utilize their sense of vocation as an educational element in designing educational programs for Taekwondo leaders.
