유아들의 관점에서 본 좋은 교사

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아들이 유아교육기관에서의 삶과 경험을 통해 본 좋은 교사는 어떤 의미를 담고 있는지 탐색해 보려는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 D광역시 62개 유치원에 다니는 만 4, 5세 유아 225명으로, 담임교사와의 놀이활동과 경험, 관계를 통해 좋 은 교사라고 느꼈던 장면이나 생각을 그림으로 그리고 그림에 대해 나눈 이야기 내용을 본 연구의 자료로 하였다. 자료수집은 2016년 5월, 2주 동안 자유선택활동시간에 이루어졌으며, 수집한 자료는 질적 분석하였다. 연구결과 좋은 교사는 네 가지 범 주로 나타났다. 첫째, 함께하며 놀아주는 교사로, 친구가 되어 주고 놀이를 지원하는 교사 둘째, 사랑으로 돌봐주는 교사로, 유아와 교감하며 적절한 도움을 주는 교사 셋째, 잘 가르쳐주는 교사로, 재미있게 알려주고 모르는 것을 가르쳐주는 교사 넷째, 소속감을 주는 교사로 나타났다. 연구를 통해 유아교육의 본질인 아동중심과 놀이중심 교육의 중요성을 재인식하고, 유아교육현장의 실제를 개선하는데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore the meaning of good teacher from young children’s perspectives by seeking the children’s daily routine experiences in early children education. The participants were 225 young children of 4-5 years old in 62 different D city kindergartens. In order to access children’s perceptions of good teacher, data collection was conducted on the drawings and descriptions during the free choice play time for two weeks on May 2016. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively. The findings of the study indicate that there are four categories that comprise perceptions of good teacher: first, a teacher who plays with children, becomes their friends, and supports them; second, one who teaches with love, communicates with them, and gives them a proper support; third, one who teaches them well and what they don’t know, and finally, one having sense of belong. The results have important implications for the recognition and development of child-centered education and play-centered curriculum related to essentials of early childhood education and to improvements of early childhood educational institution.
