영문 초록

This study analysed Korean to Arabic participatory translation strategies of Webtoon through the English translation version, focusing on onomatopoeia & mimetic word and cultural elements, especially slang and vulgarism, of Super Secret. Further, it looked at the role of comments in participatory translation of Webtoon. Moreover, it investigated the status of participants in Arabic translation and the motivation for participatory translation through questionnaires and investigated whether there is preference for translation strategies. There are many cases translated to simple Arabic expressions because of information loss during translation through English. Comments reveal the horizontal and open relation between the reader and the translator. Translation strategies analysis preferred by the respondents confirmed the limitations of translation from English to Arabic.
