고등학교 역사교과서에서 강조하는 좌우 대립의 ‘해방 3년사

국문 초록

이 글은 고등학교 7차 교육과정기『국사』및『한국근·현대사』4종과 2009 개정교육과정기『한국사』5종의 ‘해방 3년사’에 대한 교육과정 및 교과서 서술을 비판적으로 분석한 것이다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 우선 학생들이 아직 분단되지 않은 시기를 분단된 역사로 배우고 있음을 확인하였다. ‘해방 3년’은 우리 민족이 좌우합작, 남북 협상 등 통일된 정부를 수립하기 위한 노력이 추진된 시기다. 하지만 교과서 서술은 남북 분단이라는 결과를 예단하면서 분단과 대립을 강조하고 있다. 다음 으로 대한민국이 유일한 합법정부임을 강조함으로써 남북한 대립의식을 부추기고 있다. 마지막으로 제주 4·3사건과 여수·순천 10·19 사건 역시 통일정부 수립 운동의 일부로 바라보지 않고 좌우 대립으로만 서술함으로써 분단과 대립을 강조하고 있음 을 확인하였다. 이상과 같이 고등학교 역사교과서에서 좌우 대립만을 강조하는 ‘해방 3년사’에 대한 역사인식은 한반도가 평화와 통일의 시대로 나아가는데 걸림돌이 될 수밖에 없을 것이다. 해방 후 3년 동안 일어났던 주요한 역사적 사실에 대한 균형 잡힌 역사 서술이 무엇보다 필요하다.

영문 초록

The article critically analyzes the curriculum and textbook descriptions of the ‘Three Years of Liberation’ in the National History, Korean Modern History and Korean History of high school. First, this study is confirming that students has been learning that period as the divided with two countries, not divided at that time. The ‘Three Years of Liberation’ is the time for Korean to try to establish a unified government, such as the unification government between left and right, and the inter-Korean negotiations. However, textbook descriptions emphasize division and conflict, predicting the result of the division of the two Koreas. Second, by emphasizing that the Republic of Korea is the only legitimate government, it encourages the confrontation between the two Koreas. Finally, the Jeju 4·3 and Yeosu and Suncheon 10·19 incident also were not treated as the part of the movement to establish a unification government, but highlighted as the left and right conflicts. As mentioned above, history recognition about ‘Three Years of Liberation’, which emphasizes conflict between the left and the right in high school history textbooks, will be hinder for Korean Peninsula’s to advance into an era of peace and unification. A balanced description about major historical facts, occurred during the three years of liberation is necessary.
