국문 초록

본 연구는 대학생의 중도탈락 요인에 따른 보존 요소를 심리사회적 요인에 초점을 두어 탐색하였다. 연구 목적은 문헌 연구에서 나타나는 중도탈락 요인별 보존에 영향을 미치는 요소를 분석하여 보존 연구를 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 관련 연구들을 비교 분석하고 범주화하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 중도 탈락 요인과 보존은 양면성을 전제로 하고 있는 부분이 많았으며 이 요인들을 보존 가능성이 낮은 요인과 보존 가능성이 높은 요인으로 구분할 수 있었다. 둘째, 중도 탈락 요인에 따른 보존에 도움이 되는 지원은 크게 두 가지로 심리사회적 지원, 학업적 지원으로 구분되었다. 셋째, 본 연구에서는 사회적 범주를 심리사회적 범주로 확장 하였으며 대학에서 적용할 수 있는 보존 요소를 제공하였다. 이를 통해 학생 개인의 심리적인 특성을 충분히 파악하고 그들에게 적합한 보존 요소를 제공하기 위한 노력이 요구되며 이러한 노력들이 새로운 보존 연구에 적용될 수 있다. 이와 같은 연구 결과는 중도탈락 요인을 탐색하고 그에 따른 보존 요소를 심리사회적 요인에 초점을 두어 범주화하였다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

영문 초록

This research explored elements of college retention as they corresponded to college dropout factors with a focus on psycho-social elements. The purpose of the research was to provide a preliminary basis for retention research by analyzing the elements that can influence retention as they correspond to the dropout factors that are found in previous researches. For this purpose, comparative analysis of relevant past studies was carried out to categorize them, with the following conclusions: firstly, many dropout factors and retention factors tended to be interchangeable in inversely proportional ways, and they were thus differentiated into factors that could be influenced by their corresponding retention factors, and those that were difficult to be influenced; secondly, the elements for retention could be generally grouped into two categories of psycho-social support and academic support; and, thirdly, this study expanded social factors into psycho-social factors, and suggested elements that affect retention that could be addressed by the college. The results of this study are hoped to provide a meaningful basis for further retention studies by categorizing elements of retention factors based on their corresponding dropout factors with a psycho-social focus.
