유아영어교육 수업 참여를 통한 예비유아교사의 변화 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구는 예비유아교사들의 유아영어교육에 대한 자질과 능력 개발을 위하여 유아영어교육 수업 프로그램을 개발, 실시하고 예비유아교사들의 영어 교수 효능감 변화와 유아 영어교육에 대한 인식, 지식/기술, 태도의 변화의 의미를 살펴봄으로써 수업 참여의 효과와 의미를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 2017년 2학기(15주)에 수도권 S시의 유아교육학과 1학년 55명을 대상으로 유아영어교육 수업을 제공하였다. 예비 유아교사들의 효능감 변화를 보기 위하여 수업 참여 전 후에 효능감 검사를 통하여 데이터를 수집하고 SPSS 20.0을 활용 영어 교수 효능감의 양적 변화를 분석하였다. 또한 수업 과정이 끝난 후, 개방 설문을 통하여 유아영어교육에 대한 인식, 지식/기술, 그리고 태도 변화의 의미를 알아보기 위한 질적 데이터를 수집하고 내용을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 예비유아교사들의 교수효능감은 통계적으로 긍정적인 변화가 있었다. 또한, 예비 유아교사들의 유아영어교육에 대한 인식은 긍정적으로 바뀌었으며, 지식/기술의 면에서의 향상도 나타났다. 그러나 졸업 후, 유아영어교육 참여에 대한 동기와 자신감이 포함된 태도의 경우는 다소 다른 결과가 나타났다. 이런 결과를 바탕으로 예비유아교사들의 유아영어교육 담당 가능성에 대한 논의와 추후 지원 방안에 대한 제안이 이루어졌다.

영문 초록

In this study, for the purpose of supporting pre-service early childhood teachers qualities and competencies to facilitate young children s English learning and acquisition, an English education program was designed and implemented. This study aimed to examine the meaning and effects of pre-service teachers participating in the program by analyzing the changes in teacher efficacies and their perceptions, knowledge·skill, and attitude on teaching English to young children taking the program. To this end, the English education program was offered to 55 first-year pre-service early childhood teachers of a college in S city during the second semester(15 weeks) of 2017. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected through a teacher self-efficacy scale and open-ended survey questions about their perceptions, knowledge·skill, and attitude on teaching English to young children after taking the program respectively. Results demonstrated a significant increase in the pre-service teachers’ self-efficacy in pre-post ratings analysis. The pre-service teachers illustrated positive changes. The pre-service teachers attitudes on teaching English to young children showed 3 different types of aspects based on their English competencies. Implications for the equality of educational opportunity and the effectiveness of teaching English to young children were discussed.
