국문 초록

이 연구는 타자성에 주목하여 소설의 장르적 특성을 설명하고, 그간의 소설 교육에서 타자를 어떻게 다루어 왔는지를 비판적으로 고찰한 후, 이를 통해 타자 지향의 소설 교육에 대한 실천 방안을 제시하였다. 먼저 Bakhtin의 논의를 기반으로 하여 소설 장르에서 작가와 주인공의 층위, 인물과 인물 간의 층위, 작품과 독자 간의 층위를 중심으로 타자성이 드러나는 양상을 탐색하였다. 다음으로 소설 교육의 실체적 장에서 타자를 어떻게 설정하고 있는지를 비판적으로 성찰하였다. 이 연구에서는 소설 교육이 타자의 배제와 고정화, 나를 없애는 동일화, 연민을 통한 타자의 동질화의 양상을 보인다고 보고, 타자 지향의 소설교육을 위한 방안으로 소설 교육의 목적과 방향에 대한 제고, 소설 정전 스펙트럼의 다양화, 소통과 모색의 역동적 장으로서의 소설 교실, 절대적 답으로부터 탈주하는 소설 교육 등을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study describes genre characteristics of novels with respect to “otherness,” and it critically examines how otherness has been dealt with in the education of novels. This study intends to provide practical measures regarding novel education; it explored the aspect of the otherness in the novel genre, focusing on the level of the artist and the hero, the level between the person and the character, and the level between the work and the reader. In this study, novel education is analyzed and shows the exclusion and immobilization of the other, identification with self-elimination, and identification with others through compassion. As practical measures about the education of novels aimed at the other, this study proposes the re-establishment of the purpose and direction in novel education, the diversification of the spectrum in the canon of novels studied, the need for novel education emphasizing interpretation and communication, and the requirement of an open mind to be able to run away from absolute answers.
