국문 초록

본 연구는 한국과 미국의 학교 성교육 가이드라인의 비교 분석을 통해 우리나라 학교 성교육표준안의 개정에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하고 우리나라 성교육의 발전 적인 방향에 대한 시사점을 찾기 위한 목적으로 실시된 연구이다. 연구목적을 달성 하기 위해 2018년 현재 한국과 미국에서 적용되고 있는 한국의 학교 성교육표준안과 미국의 종합 성교육지침서를 2018년 6월 8일부터 11월 9일까지 5개월간에 걸쳐 비교 분석하여 차이점과 공통점을 분석하였다. 연구결과 한국의 성교육 가이드라인은 학교 성교육의 운영에 중점을 두고 있고, 미국의 성교육가이드라인은 지역사회와의 연계교육에 중점을 두고 있으며, 미국의 성교육 가이드라인이 한국의 성교육 가이드라 인보다 더 많은 학교의 자율성과 재량권을 지니고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 학교 성교육가이드라인의 내용은 미국이 한국보다 구체적이고 진보적인 성향을 지니고 있었으며 한국의 성교육 가이드라인은 학교중심의 지원에 중점을 두고 있는 반면, 미국의 성교육 가이드라인은 학급이나 개인중심의 지원에 중점을 두고 사랑에 대한 책무성을 강조하고 있다는 점을 도출하였다. 이러한 연구결과는 학교 성교육표준안의 개정과 후속연구에 기초자료를 제공할 뿐만 아니라 학교 성교육이 나아갈 방향을 제시한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study has been carried out to figure out the implications of developmental plans for Korean sexuality education through a comparative analysis of guidelines for school sex education in Korea and USA. In order to achieve the study goal, a comparative analysis of the sex education standard of Korea and guidelines for comprehensive sexuality education of USA has been conducted to appreciate their differences and common features, which has found that the Korean guidelines are focused on the operation of sexuality education in schools while those of America on the education linked to local communities, allowing the school to have more autonomy and discretion. In addition, the content of school guidelines in America is revealed to have the tendency of being more concrete and progressive than those of Korea. According to its guidelines, American school sexuality education is based on abstinence. While the Korean guidelines are dependent on the support provided mostly to schools, those of America on that to individuals or classes. Also, it has been found that the American guidelines emphasize the responsibility for love. This study is significant in that its result has served basic material with which any follow-up researches can signpost for school sexuality education.
