의사결정트리를 활용한 정보시각화 디자인 교육방법 제안

국문 초록

정보시각화 교육을 위해, 주제 설정 및 데이터 수집에서 시각화 콘텐츠 평가에 이르는 단계별 학습 방법을 연구했다. 이 과정에서 본 연구자는 세분화, 분류, 및 예측 과정이 포함된 의사 결정 트리 이론을 응용하여, 시각화 콘텐츠 생성나무(VCGT) 교육 모델을 개발했다. 이 교육 모델은 주제 설정을 위한 트렁크 단계, 콘텐츠 제작 방법 선택을 위한 노드 생성 단계 그리고 최적의 아이디어 선택을 위한 적합성 평가로 구분된다. 노드 생성단계에는 정보시각화 콘셉트 구체화를 위한, 주된 표현의 방법을 결정하는 ‘시각화 형태’ 단계 ‘, 이를 효과적으로 표현할 방법을 결정하는 ‘수사학적 효과’ 단계, 그리고 데이터를 구체적인 시각적 형식으로 표현할 방법을 결정하는 ‘시각 표현 요소’ 단계가 있다. 학습자는 콘텐츠 분기를 통해 여러 정보시각화 기획의 콘텐츠 조합을 만들고, 각 콘텐츠 조합 값을 평가한다. 교육 모델은 디자인 학부생 103개의 과제에 적용하였고, 단계 학습 과정의 효율성을 확인했다.

영문 초록

For Information visualization education, we studied a step-by-step learning method from topic setting and data collection to visual content evaluation. In this process, we have developed a Visualization Contents Generation Tree(VCGT) educational model by applying decision tree theory including segmentation, classification, and prediction. This educational model is divided into ‘trunk’ phase for topic setting, ‘node generation’ phase for selection of contents production method, and ‘conformity assessment’ phase for selecting the best ideas. In the node creation step, there is three step such as, a ‘visualization form’ step for determining the main expression method for materializing the information visualization concept, a ‘rhetorical effect’ step for determining the effective expression method, and ‘visual expression element’ step for expressing the data in a specific visual form. The learner creates content combinations of various information visualization plans through content branching and evaluates each content combination value. The education model confirmed the effectiveness of the phase learning process if it was applied to 103 design undergraduate students.
