국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 영어 말하기 수행평가에 대한 중학교 영어 교사와 학생 간 인식 차이를 비교 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 전국 105명의 영어 교사들과 260명의 중학교 1학년 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상대적으로 높은 비율의 중학생들이 고등사고능력을 측정하는 평가활동을 상당히 적절하다고 인식했지만, 소수의 영어 교사들만이 이를 영어 말하기 수행평가 활동으로 사용하였다. 둘째, 학생들은 학기 말 일괄평가 실시를 선호한 반면, 교사들 은 수업 평가 방식을 선호했다. 셋째, 학생들은 동료 상호 평가를 적절하다고 인식하는 비중이 상대적으로 높았지만, 교사들은 이를 적절하다고 인식하는 비중이 낮았다. 넷째, 평가 결과를 제공할 때 교사들은 대면 피드백 제공 방법을 선호했지만, 학생들은 비대면 방식의 피드백 제공 방법을 더 선호했다. 마지막으로 교사들과 학생들 모두가 진정한 영어 말하기 수행평가를 위해 평가 기준에 대한 명확한 제시를 언급한 점이 주목할 만 하다.

영문 초록

The main purpose of this study is to investigate middle school English teachers and students perception of English speaking performance assessment (ESPA). For this purpose, questionnaires were conducted with 105 English teachers and 260 first-year middle school students nationwide. The results of this study are as follows: First, a relatively higher percentage of middle school students recognized activities measuring high-level thinking abilities were quite relevant, but only a very small number of English teachers used them as ESPA activities. Second, students preferred one-time ESPA carrying out at the end of each semester, but the teachers preferred all-time one continuously being evaluated during classes. Third, relatively higher percentage of the students considered peer feedback quite appropriate, but the teachers were unlikely to prefer it. Fourth, when providing assessment results, teachers preferred face-to-face feedback, but students were more likely to prefer non-face-to-face feedback. Finally, it is notable that both teachers and students mentioned clear suggestions on assessment criteria as a solution for authentic ESPA.
