여성 과학 영재 교육 관련 국내외 연구 동향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 국내외 연구 동향을 파악하여 여성 과학 영재를 위한 교육적 시사점을 도출, 여성 영재 교육의 효율성을 재고하고, 관련 연구에 대한 전망을 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 ‘여학생, 과학, 영재’, ‘female, gifted, science’ 등의 검색어를 사용, 1975-2017년까지 42년간 국내외 학술지에 게재된 관련 논문을 살펴보았다. 연구 대상 논문은 국내 60편, 국외 76편으로, 연구 시기, 연구 대상, 연구 방법, 연구 내용에 따라 분석했다. 분석 결과, 국내 연구는 국외에 비해 관련 연구가 늦게 시작되었 으며 초등학생을 대상으로 한 연구가 가장 많았다. 국외의 경우, 고등학생을 대상으로 한 연구가 가장 많았지만 전반적으로 연구 대상이 다양했다. 국내의 경우 양적 연구 위주였고, 국외의 경우 질적 연구 비율이 양적 연구보다 더 높았다. 연구 내용은 인지 및 학습 특성, 심리·정서적 특성, 프로그램, 창의성, 진로(특징, 선택, 유지), 사회와 문화, 교육의 영향(부모, 교사, 성역할 인식), 정책과 대안 등 7개 주제로 범주화했 다. 전체적으로 여성 과학 영재의 현실을 사회·문화적으로 고려한 연구가 가장 많았 는데, 국내 연구의 경우 인지 및 학습 관련 연구가 보다 많고, 국외의 경우 사회·문화· 교육의 영향을 주제로 한 연구와 여성 과학 영재의 진로, 심리·정서적 특성 관련 연구도 높은 비중을 차지했다. 추후 국내 여성 과학 영재들을 위한 질적, 양적 연구가 확대되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study reviews both domestic and international research of female gifted in science in order to deduce educational viewpoints, reconsider efficiency of educational system for female gifted in science, and to propose the future research in related field. For fulfilling the purpose, 60 domestic research articles and 76 international research articles were selected and analyzed in terms of their subjects, methods, as well as research theme. The results say that the domestic research started later compared to internationals, with the highest frequency of subjects targeting elementary school students. The international research showed the highest number of studies targeting high school students, generally with wider range of research subjects. Domestic research focused on quantitative method whereas international research tended to focus more on qualitative method. Research themes could be categorized by the following seven topics: cognitive and learning, psychological and emotional characteristics, programs, creativity, career(characteristics, choice, retention), social, cultural and educational effects(parents, teachers, gender stereotype), and policies and educational alternatives. Studies regarding social and cultural aspects for female gifted in science were the highest in number. In domestic research, cognitive and learning had the highest frequency. In international research, social, cultural and educational issues, career path for female gifted in science, and psychological and emotional characteristics showed high in frequency. More studies, including both qualitative and quantitative for female gifted in science should be expanded in the future.
