국문 초록

日本における1930年代は、一般的にモダン文化に代表される前半期とファシズムに支配された後半期に断絶された形で認識されてきた。本稿ではモダン文化の流行とナショナリズムの激化を断絶せずに、日本の1930年代を社会․文化的に繋がっているものとして捉えることを試みる。 モダン文化において欲望を発散する主体になる過程を経験した大衆は、戦争が勃発して禁欲的な生活を強いられると自分の欲望を発散する場としてスポーツを選んだ。1930年代初期にモダン文化として享受されたスポーツは団体競技の流行とオリンピックを通じて大衆に国家共同体の一員としてのアイデンティティを与えた。そのような過程の中でスポーツは文化が 持つ影響力を利用し、大衆をファシズムへと導いたのである。 以上を踏まえて、本稿では<文化としてのスポーツ>と<大衆の主体性>がモダン文化とファシズムを結ぶ媒体であった可能性に注目し、モダン文化を享受していた大衆がファシズムに傾倒していく過程を雑誌メディアにおけるスポーツ及びオリンピックの報道と表象を中心に考察を行った。

영문 초록

The 1930s of Japan can be divided into the first half, which is represented as a modern culture and the second half, which reached the climax of the fascism, both of which were generally considered broken with each other. I started this study from the point of view to consider the prevalence of the modern culture and the intensification of the nationalism as a connected social and cultural stream. Sports, once enjoyed as a modern culture, can be considered to contribute to the fascism by giving the public the identity as the national community through the fad of team competitions and the Olympics. That is, “the public subjectivity” and sports are the links between the modern culture and the fascism. In this study, I examined the process whereby the public who had enjoyed the modern culture changed their minds to support the fascism on the basis of the reports and the representations of the sports games and the Olympics in the magazines.
