To study the survival of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in marine environmentals during winter season, V. parahaemolyticus were investigated from environmental sources in lower creek of 0-Sip chun once a month during June 1989 to May 1990.
The results obtained were as follow:
Water temperature were ranged 12℃ to 27℃ during a year at all stations observed, it were higher than 24℃ in August but lower than 12℃ in January at every stations. Concentration of sodium chloride In water samples were shown the highest level at A station (27.1-31.2%), 7 followed B(1.2-23.0%), C(1.1-9.7%), D(0.08-3.6%). And it was almost none of sodium chloride at E station. The pH values of water samples was ranged pH 6.7 to pH 8.4. It was stable at A station, while those in B, C and D station fluctuated irregularly.
V. parahaemolyticus was isolated for the longest period at station C(from March to December), and followed at station B (from March to November). But V. alginolyticus was isolated at station C in January and February when V. parahaemolyticus was not detected. V. parahaemolyticus was detected longer period in mud than water at station C and D.
V. parahaemolyticus was survived much longer period in mud (75 days) than in water (35 days)of station D at 12℃, also the bacteria was survived much longer period in 0.5% peptone water with 0.5% sodium chloride (for 9 days) than in 0.5% sodium chloride solution (for 1 day) at 12℃.
Eighteen strains among 60 isolates showed positive reaction in Kanagawa-phenomenon test. After 42 negative strains were subcultured 5 times on Wagatsuma media, 31 strains (73.8%) among them produced Kanagawa hemolysin.
