영문 초록

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) producing heat-labile (LT) and/or heat-stable (ST) enterotoxins causes “acute diarrhoeal diseases” in man and animals. In the control of “acute diarrhoeal diseases” particulary in the young animals, piglet, calf and lamb, an immunopropylaxis is a great value before chemotherapy because both enterotoxins, LT and ST are controlled by transmissible plasmids as well as with multiple drug resistance gene, “R factor”. In this review, a pathogenesis of colibacillosis, antigenicity and immunogenicity of E. coli, antibiotic susceptibility of ETEC strains isolated from diarrhoeal piglets, representative OK serotypes of vaccine strains and their immunoprophylactic efficacy were discussed.
