The purpose of this study was to develop fields and elements for evaluating elementary school Practical Arts Textbook, which was developed based on the 7th national curriculum, to investigate elementary school teachers’ evaluating perception toward Practical Arts textbook, and to present the development scheme for future development of Practical Arts textbook. Major research methods used in this study were a literature review and a survey. The literature review method was used to develop fields and elements for evaluating Practical Arts textbook, and to investigate the significance of textbooks and textbook evaluation. Survey was conducted to evaluate elementary school teachers’ perception toward Practical Arts textbook.
Conclusions for this study were drawn as follows: 1. In appropriateness of teaching-learning field, contents and materials in Practical Arts textbook were appropriate to achieve the goal of practical arts education in elementary school. However, amount of learning material per each unit was more than needed and contents were not appropriate to teach various level of students; 2. In appropriateness of lesson contents and practice field, contents of textbook were appropriate to conduct teaching-learning process, and practice items were appeal to students. However, construction of contents was not appropriate to show teachers’ creativity and level of contents was not that easy for students to accept; 3. In appropriateness of activities and practices field, contents of activities and practices field in Practical Arts textbook were able to promote students’ learning capacity. However, contents of activities and practices were not appropriate to trigger students’ creativity, contents of activities and practices were not organized for students to review the lessons; and 4. In appropriateness of drawing, illustration, and picture in textbook field, drawing, illustration, and picture in Practical Arts textbook were appropriate to help students understanding contents of lessons. However, more effective graphic materials could be inserted to promote more effective lesson execution.
