국문 초록

본 연구는 독일통일 이전과 이후 역사교과서들의 분단사 서술을 비교하고 있다. 독일통일 이전 1980년대 역사교과서의 분단사 서술내용이 1990년 독일통일 이후 10여년이 지난 2000년대 교과서의 분단사 서술과 어떻게 다른지를 분석한다. 분석대상은 1980년대와 2000년대 후기 중등학교용 역사교과서 각각 8권씩 모두 16권이다. 분석결과 두 시기 교과서들 사이에 큰 차이는 발견하기 어려웠다. 1980년대의 동·서독사를 보는 기본 관점은 2000년대에도 계속되고 있었다. 이는 동독이 서독에 편입하는 방식의 통일이 이루어진 것이 가장 큰 이유일 것이다. 가장 눈에 띄는 차이는 통일 이후의 교과서들이 모두 분단과 통일에 이르는 과정을 민족사적 관점에서 서술하고 있다는 점이다. 이에 비해 1980년대 교과서들은 동독과 서독 두 나라가 독자적으로 발전하리라고 생각했기에 대부분 개별적 병행사 관점의 서술방식을 취하고 있었다. 가장 주목할 만한 공통점은 1980년대와 2000년대 교과서들이 전체독일사적 관점의 시기구분방식을 택하고 있다는 점이다. 이는 1980년대 당시에도 동독과 서독이 비록 다른 사회적 발전과정을 걷고 있지만, 언젠가는 통일해야 할 공동의 독일사라는 암묵적인 연대의식이 밑바탕에 깔려있었음을 말해준다.

영문 초록

This study aims to compare the description of German division before and after German reunification, which focuses on history textbooks of highschool in 1980 s and 2000 s. What are differences between the description of German division in history textbooks of highschool in the 1980 s and 2000 s. The objects of analysis are 16 history textbooks. According to this analysis, we can t find any special differences. The basic perspective of history of German division in the 1980 s lasts in 2000 s. It is mainly because of the way of German unification, in which East Germany affiliated to the federal republic of Germany(West Germany). The most distinct difference is that history textbooks in the 2000 s describe the history of German division in the perspective of national history. On the contrary the history textbooks in the 1980 s described the history of German division in the perspective of independent parallel history, because they assumed that East and West Germany would develop separately in different way. The most remarkable common feature is that the history textbooks in the 1908 s and 2000 s choose the same way of history period division in the perspective of whole German history. It implies that the authors of history textbooks in the 1980 s believed that East and West Germany would be reunited in the future, although they had been developed separately at that times.
