국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 생산적 실패 경험에서 메타인지적 프롬프트 유형이 학습자가 생성하는 표상 및 해결방안 도출의 다양성과 구조화된 정도, 인지부하, 그리고 지식 격차 인식에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 것이다. 이를 위해 비구조화된 문제해결 단계에 필요한 메타인지 프롬프트를 모두 제공한 ‘높은 지원’ 집단, 그 중 일부 프롬프트를 제외한 ‘적절한 지원’ 집단, 그리고 프롬프트를 제공하지 않은 ‘무지원’ 집단으로 구분하였다. 본 연구는 준실험설 계로, 총 106명의 대학생이 실험에 참여하였으며, 연구결과 분석을 위해 다변량공분산분석과 일원공분산분석을 활용하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 학습자가 생성한 표상의 다양성은 ‘적절한 지원’ 과 ‘무지원’ 집단이 ‘높은 지원’ 집단보다 유의하게 높았다. 반면, 표상의 구조 화된 정도와 인지부하는 메타인지 프롬프트 제공 방식에 따라 집단 간 유의한 차이가 나타 나지 않았다. 마지막으로, ‘높은 지원’ 집단과 ‘적절한 지원’ 집단이 ‘무지원’ 집단보다 학습 자가 본인의 현재 지식 상태와 문제해결에 필요한 지식 간 격차를 크게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 생산적 실패 경험에서 학습자 스스로 문제해결 과정을 성찰하고 이해 정도를 점검할 수 있는 기회를 제공하기 위해서는, 생산적 실패 환경의 특징을 고려한 적절한 지원의 메타인지 프롬프트 제공이 중요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study was to develop an optimal form of support during the problem solving phase in productive failure for the learners to have the best benefit from their failing experience. The experiment took place for two weeks. The participants were divided into three groups of receiving no, optimized, or full support (N = 106) and the study measured learners’ representation and solution methods (“RSM”), cognitive load, and knowledge gap. The results indicated that participants in the no and optimized support condition produced significantly more diverse RSMs than those in the full support condition. However, the effect of the types of metacognitive prompts on RSM structuredness and cognitive load were not significant. In case of knowledge gap, learners in the optimized and full support group reported significantly more aware of knowledge gap than those in the no support group. It implies that the optimized form of support was able to privide learners with a chance to reflect their RSMs and be aware of their knowledge gap.
