핵심어기호체계가 비구어 발달장애아동의 손기호 표현과 발화에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 핵심어기호체계가 비구어 발달장애아동의 손기호 표현과 발화에 미치는 효과를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 3명의 비구어 발달장애아동을 선정하여 4개월간 총 24회기의 핵심어기호체계를 중재하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 핵심어기호체계는 비구어 발달장애아동의 손기호 표현 향상에 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 대상아동 별로 다소 다른 특성을 보이기도 하였지만 공통적으로 중재 이후에는 총 손기호 수와 다른 손기호 수의 빈도가 높아졌으며 유지단계에서도 손기호가 안정적으로 나타났다. 둘째, 핵심어기호체계가 비구어 발달장애아동의 발화 향상에 미약하기는 하지만 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 비록 발화에 대한 효과를 확인하기에는 중재 기간이 짧아 발화 빈도 향상이 낮았지만, 의미 있는 발화가 중재단계와 유지단계에서 지속적으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 핵심어기호체계가 비구어 발달장애아동의 손기호와 발화에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 나타낸다. 이에 따라 향후에 비구어 발달장애아동을 대상으로 핵심어기호체계를 효율적으로 중재하기 위한 방안을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to understand the effects of key word signing on the expression of manual signs and utterances of children with non-verbal developmental disabilities. The participants were three children with developmental disabilities that could not use speech as a way of communication. The multiple baseline design between subjects was conducted in the stage of baseline, intervention, and maintenance. The intervention had total 24 sessions with the use of prompt strategy. The results of this study are like below. First, the key word signing had effects on the expression of manual signs of children with non-verbal developmental disabilities. Even though each child showed different characteristics, commonly, the frequency of the number of different manual sign and total number of manual sign were increased at the stage of intervention and maintenance. Second, the key word signing had effects on the utterances of children with non-verbal developmental disabilities. Even though the frequency of utterances and vocalizations were low because of the short intervention period to verify its effects on the expression of speech, significant utterances were continuously shown in the period of intervention and maintenance.
