학교 밖 청소년의 자기 삶 찾기 과정에서 자기대상으로서 멘토와의 관계 경험의 의미

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 다양한 원인으로 학교를 중단하고 고군분투하며 자기 삶을 찾아가고 있는 학교 밖 청소년들에게 자기대상으로서 멘토와의 관계 경험이 주는 의미를 탐색해 보는 것이다. 이를 위해 A시에 있는 청소년지원센터에서 1년에서 3년간 멘토링 프로그램에 참여한 6명의 청소년을 연구 참여자로 선정하고, 2017년 3월부터 9월까지 멘토링을 통해 만난 멘토와의 관계에서의 경험, 그것이 자기대상으로서 삶에 미친 변화 등에 대해 개별면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 5개의 주제, 11개의 구성 의미가 도출되었다. 학교 밖 청소년이 경험한 자기대상으로서 멘토와의 관계 경험의 의미는 ‘다른 어른과의 만남’, ‘자발성과 희망을 이끌어줌’, ‘심리적 안정감과 소속감이 충족 됨’, ‘삶에 대한 책임감을 갖게 됨’, ‘진로탐색의 기회와 자신감을 갖게 됨’으로 나타났다. 이 연구를 바탕으로 학교 밖 청소년들을 만나는 멘토의 자질과 역할, 현장 적용을 위한 제도개선과 현장실무자들의 역량 증진 방안에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research was to explore the meaning of relational experiences with mentor as a self-object during searching for his life of out-of-school youths. For this, 6 of out-of-school youths who had 1-3years mentoring program were interviewed from youth supporting center, A city during from March to September. 2017. The interview questions were about mainly relational experiences with mentor and changes in his life through the mentoring. Data was collected through individual interview and analyzed by qualitative data analysis. The findings showed that the meaning of relational experiences with the mentor were identified as 11 meanings and 5 themes. The 5 themes consisted of ‘meeting with a different adult’, ‘guidance to self-motivation and hope’, ‘satisfaction of psychological stability and sense of belonging’, ‘having sense of responsibility for his life’, ‘having opportunities for career exploration and confidence’. Therefore, I suggested that mentor’s roles and competencies as a self-object of the out-of-school youths, empowerment of practitioners, and improvement of a youth welfare system.
