국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 2016년 새로운 TOEIC의 시행과 더불어 2016년 新 TOEIC의 신뢰도와 新 TOEIC 점수와 기존 TOEIC 점수의 차이를 조사하는 것이다. 연구대상은 한 대학교에 재학 중인 371명의 학생이었으며, 이들이 제출한 두 시험 점수를 결과분 석 자료로 활용했다. 기존 TOEIC 자료는 2015년 3월부터 新 TOEIC이 시행된 2016년 5월 29일 이전까지의 점수이며, 新 TOEIC의 경우는 2016년 6월부터 2017년 5월까지 학생들이 시험에 응시해서 제출한 점수이다. 新 TOEIC의 신뢰도와 두 시험 점수 간의 차이를 조사하기 위해서 SPSS 상관관계 분석과 대응표본 t-test를 활용했다. 연구의 결과는 연구대상자들의 新 TOEIC 점수와 기존 TOEIC 점수가 비교적 적절한 상관관계를 가짐으로써 新 TOEIC이 신뢰도를 갖춘 시험임을 보여주며, 두 시험간의 점수 차이는 크지 않으며, 이 차이는 통계적으로 유의미하지 않음을 나타낸다. 본 연구는 2016년 新 TOEIC 시행 후 시험 결과와 관련된 실질적인 연구가 없는 상황에서 시험의 신뢰도와 두 시험 점수 차이에 대한 기초적인 통계 자료를 제공한다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

With the implementation of New TOEIC in 2016, the aim of the study is to investigate the reliability of 2016 New TOEIC and the difference between the scores of college English learners on 2016 New TOEIC and those of previous TOEIC. The subjects of the study was 371 college English learners. The scores of the previous TOEIC were gathered from March, 2015 to May, 2016. The scores of the New TOEIC were obtained from June, 2016 to March, 2017. The data was analyzed using the SPSS correlation analysis and paired t-test to investigate the reliability of the New TOEIC and the difference between the scores of the two tests. The result of the present study indicates that the correlation between the scores of the previous TOEIC and those of 2016 New TOEIC is relatively high enough in terms of statistics to decide that 2016 New TOEIC has appropriate instrument reliability. The analysis of the data also shows that the difference between the scores of the previous TOEIC and those of 2016 New TOEIC is not statistically significant. The present study has its meaning in that it tries to provide the fundamental statistical data on both the validity and the level of difficulty of 2016 New TOEIC when there is no practical information related to the scores of it.
