국문 초록

최근에 교육학 및 심리학 분야에서는 인간의 태도나 행동의 이유를 설명하기 위 하여 기존에 알려진 심리적 변수들보다 원천적이고 상위(meta)에 있는 개인의 내적 신념 및 가치 특성에 대해 관심을 기울이고 있다. 영어 학습에 있어서 영어 능력이 뛰어난 학습자와 그렇지 않은 학습자들이 갖는 특징은 이들이 사용하는 학습 전략 (learning strategies)에 있고, 또한 이들은 다양한 학습 전략을 사용하면서 내용을 이해하려고 하는데, 영어 능력이 뛰어난 학습자들은 이러한 전략을 계획하고 조절하 며 평가한다. 한국사회에서 대학생들은 진로를 위해 보다 실질적인 영어학습이 요구되며 자신 이 가진 인지적 자원을 파악하고, 그에 따른 자기주도적 영어학습전략을 설정하여야 한다. 따라서 이들의 메타인지에 대한 정확한 측정이 이루어져야 하나, 국내에서 사 용되는 메타인지 척도들은 외국의 도구를 번안하여 사용하거나, 영어학습 및 대학생 의 특성을 반영하지 못한 한계를 지니고 있다. 이에 L2 영어학습 환경에서 한국인 대학생들의 영어학습성과와 그 영향요인에 대한 연구들이 다양하고 정확하게 이루 어지기 위해서는 대학생의 정확한 메타인지 특성을 측정할 수 있는 검사지 개발이 요구된다. 따라서 연구는 L2 영어학습 환경과 한국인 대학생의 특성을 고려하여 영 어학습 메타인지 수준을 정확하고 타당하게 측정할 수 있는 척도를 개발하는데 목 적이 있다.

영문 초록

Recently, pedagogy and psychology pay attention to an individual’s internal beliefs and value characteristics that are more original and ranked higher (meta) than the already recognized psychological variables to explain the reasons for a human being’s attitude or behaviors. In terms of English learning, the characteristics of learners with a high English ability and those without are shown in learning strategies. They try to understand contents using a variety of learning strategies. Those with a high English ability plan, control, and evaluate these strategies. In Korean society, college students require practical English learning for their career. However, as they must deal with learning tasks on their own, they must understand their cognitive resources and set self-directed English learning strategies according to them. Therefore, it is necessary to precisely measure their metacognition. However, currently used meta-cognition scales in Korea are foreign scales that are translated or do not reflect English learning and college students’ characteristics. For more various and precise research on Korean college students’ English learning achievements and effective factors in L2 English learning environments, it is necessary to develop a test to correctly measure the college students’ meta-cognition characteristics. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a scale that can measure the English learning meta-cognition level precisely and reasonably based on a consideration of the L2 English learning environment and the Korean college students’ characteristics.
