국문 초록

초등교육 단계에서의 영재교육은 주로 학교 단위의 영재 학급에서 실시되고 있기 때문에 영재교육을 담당하는 교사가 영재를 위한 적절한 교육과정 설계 모형을 정립하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 관련 문헌을 고찰하여, 초등학교의 영재 학급에서 영재들을 교수할 때 사용할 수 있는 초등 영재 교육과정 모형을 살펴보고, 초등 영재를 위한 교육과정이라는 본질적 성격을 만족할 수 있는 통합교육과정 설계 모형을 탐색하였다. VanTassel-Baska(1986)의 통합교육과정설계모형(ICM; Integrated Curriculum Model)은 정규교육과정을 바탕으로 주제를 중심으로 통합하여 수업을 실시하기 때문에 pullout 형태인 영재학급에서의 영재의 개별화된 학습 요구에도 부응할 수 있고, 능력차가 다양한 학생의 준비도, 흥미, 생활 경험 등의 질적 차이에 따라 학습 내용, 학습 과정, 학습 결과에 대해 다양한 접근 방법을 실시할 수 있기 때문에 대부분의 일과를 보내는 일반 학급 내에서도 영재들에게 유의미한 통합교육과정 설계 모형 이 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

Since the gifted and talented(G/T) education from the elementary school level is carried out in a enrichment class for the G/T children of school unit it is very important to establish a design model of appropriate curriculum for G/T education by G/T teacher. In this study the researcher presented the theoretical integrated curriculum development model(ICM) for the G/T children in the elementary schools under the assumption that the model should comfort and suit the identity of national core curriculum and the G/T children so that the G/T education in the elementary school can be implemented in its own form and adequacy. Since ICM is meaningful to all G/T children and typical learners in the elementary school and the ICM is possible to meet with various approaches about learning content the learning process and the learning results the VanTassel-Baska(1986) s ICM model can be used not only as a general model for G/T children of the elementary school’s ordinary classroom but also as a differentiated model for G/T children by taking their special needs.
