중학교 교사의 교과서 외형 체제 만족도 연구

국문 초록

연구는 2007 개정 교육과정 시기 교과서 외형 체제 정책과 관련된 중학교 교사의 인식 조사를 목적으로 하고 있다. 설문 조사를 통해 확인한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 2007 개정 교육과정 시기에 자율화가 이루어진 서체?편집 디자인의 다양화 정도, 교과서 질의 향상도, 교과서 서체 만족도 등에 대한 중학교 교사들의 인식은 5점 만점에 3.85 이상으로 비교적 높게 나타났지만 교과서의 편집 디자인에 대한 만족도는 3.69로서 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다. 둘째, 2007 개정 교육과정 시기에 규제가 남아있던 판형, 지질, 색도 등에 대한 교사들의 만족도는 5점 만점에 4점 전후로 높게 나타났지만, 분량에 대한 만족도는 5점 만점에 3.47로 나타나 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다. 셋째, 외형 체제 완전 자율화 정책의 바람직한 정도는 5점 만점에 3.43으로 낮게 나타났다. 비교적 긍정적인 입장을 보인 것으로 분석할 수 있지만, 규제가 남아있던 판형이나 지질, 색도에 대한 만족도가 4점 전후였던 것을 생각해볼 때, 중학교 교사들이 외형체제의 완전 자율화에 대해 무조건적인 지지를 보내고 있다고 보기는 어렵다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study was to evaluate teachers perceptions of the policy for the physical features of textbooks. Textbooks have served as an important tool by which the school curriculum can be effectively implemented in Korea. In recent years, textbook policy for changes in the physical features of textbooks have been spurred by attempts to induce the development of high-quality and diverse textbooks in accordance with reforms in the national curriculum. In order to serve the needs of diverse students as well as to foster their creativity, textbook policies have centered upon less regulations for the physical features of textbooks. This study used an online-based survey to identify teachers thoughts on this matter. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the abolition of regulations for the types/designs have improved the diversity of the types/designs. The teachers were satisfied with types of textbooks; however, the degree of teacher satisfaction with design is not as high as that for types. Second, the teachers were satisfied with less regulations for the size/color/paper of the textbooks, but the degree of teacher satisfaction with thickness is not as high as that for size/color/paper. Third, teachers had relatively negative attitudes toward the abolition of regulations for the physical features of textbooks. The degree of teacher agreement on the abolition of the regulations was not as high as that for size/color/paper. Based on the results, this study provides some policy suggestions. It would be appropriate to collect consumers opinions when considering textbook policies, and the regulations for the physical features of textbooks should be evidence-based.
