탈북대학생의 남한대학생 교우 경험에 관한 현상학적 탐구

국문 초록

최근 남북한 통일을 바라보는 사회적 관심으로 탈북자들의 남한사회적응 문제가 사회문제로 대두되고 있다. 남한 사회 적응에 있어서 어려움을 극복하지 못한 20대 젊은이들은 또 다시 해외로 이탈하는 ‘탈남 러시 현상’이 발생하고 있으며, 이는 정 착과 혼란으로 또 다른 새로운 양상의 디아스포라(Diaspora)를 재촉하고 있다. 본연구에서는 남한대학생과의 교우관계 경험을 통한 탈북대학생의 대학생활적응을 살펴보았다. 연구결과, 첫째, 교우관계에서 상이한 용어로 인한 의사소통에서의 어려 움을 겪고 있었다. 둘째, 억양의 차이로 인한 교우관계에서의 위축이었다. 셋째, 선후배 관계에 따른 호칭으로 인하여 교우관계에서의 혼란을 겪는 어려움이었다. 넷째, 교우관계는 경제적인 어려움으로 피상적이고 제한적인 접촉만을 가지는 관계라 는 것이다. 다섯째, 탈북자에 대한 낮은 사회적 인식과 편향성에 대한 시선이 교우관계에서의 걸림돌이 되고 있었다. 이러한 연구결과는 ‘다름’을 이해하고 존중하는 사회인식변화가 중요하다는 것과 남북통일 후 민족의 ‘동질성’은 되찾고 문화 ‘차이’ 를 최소화하기 위한 대책마련이 시급하다는 것을 간접적으로 시사해주고 있다.

영문 초록

With the recent upsurgence of social interest in the unification, the North Korean defectors social adaption issues are becoming another social problem. Recently, North Korean Defector youngsters in twenties, who have failed to overcome difficulties in assimilation, fleeing again this time to overseas in so called Flee-South Rush. This is signaling another version of the “Diaspora” This research was done on the North Korean Defector students college life adaptation based upon the peer relationships between North and South Korean Students. This research concludes the followings: Firstly, they are facing difficulties in communication causing from the differences in language expressions. Secondly, they are experiencing an inferiority complex resulting from the differences in accents. Thirdly, they are creating a confusion in the peer hierarchy by not knowing the terms referring to the seniors and juniors. Fourthly, due to the financial complexes, they are intentionally keeping distances amongst peers and maintaining only a superficial relationships. Finally, the fifth, the discriminative and opinionated and social perceptions on the North Korean defectors are causing a barriers in peer relationships. These research results revealed an importance of a change in the social perspective in understanding and respecting the term “differences.” In addition, the research result also indirectly stressed need and urgency of finding a method to find the similarities while minimizing the cultural differences after the unification.
