국문 초록

본 연구는 일반고 위기를 극복하기 위한 방안의 하나로 서울시교육청에서 운영하고 있는 교육과정 거점학교의 효과와 발전 방향을 탐색하기 위하여 수행되었다. 교육과정 거점학교는 학교 간 역할 분담을 통해 일반고 재학생들에게 보다 다양하고 풍부한 교육과정 이수 기회를 제공하기 위하여 도입되었다. 즉, 학생들의 관심과 진로에 적합한 일부 과목을 다른 학교에서 이수하도록 허용함으로써, 기존의 일반고교육과정이 갖고 있는 한계를 보완하고자 하는 것이다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 교육 과정 거점학교가 실제 학교 현장에서 긍정적 효과를 거두고 있다는 점을 뒷받침해주고 있다. 거점학교 운영 교사, 참가 학생 및 이들의 학부모 모두 교육과정 거점학교의 효과에 대해 긍정적인 반응을 보이고 있는 것이다. 그러나 거점학교의 운영 교 사들은 여러 가지 현실적 제약들 때문에 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 상당수의 일반고 교사들은 여전히 거점학교의 도입 취지와 효과에 대해 부정적인 인식을 갖고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이러한 결과를 토대로 향후 교육과정 거점학교가 성공적 으로 정착하기 위한 발전 방안을 제시하고 있다.

영문 초록

Most general high schools in Korea have not provided diversified and enriched curricula, which has caused students to lose their interests in school works. To give more diverse learning opportunities for students in general high schools, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education began to employ curriculum core schools in the fall semester of 2013. The idea was to allow students to take courses that are not opened in their school at curriculum core schools, which offer enriched courses in non-major subject areas such as music, visual arts and physical education. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of curriculum core schools and remaining challenges for successful implementation of the new policy. Major results demonstrate that participating teachers, students and their parents all believe curriculum core schools help students develop their talents and potentials, giving diverse learning opportunities. Majority of teachers in general high schools, however, appeared to have negative responses to curriculum core schools. Based on these results, this study proposes policy supports necessary for curriculum core schools to achieve intended goals in practice.
