공감기반학습을 적용한 초등학교 국어과 수업이 학교생활 공감과 학업참여에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 이준, 유숙경, 이윤옥(2014)의 공감기반학습을 초등학교 국어과 수업에 적용하고 그 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 경기도 소재 초등학교 5학년 2 개 학급을 선정한 후 실험집단(25명)에는 국어수업에서 공감기반학습을 적용하였으 며, 통제집단(25명)에는 전통적인 국어 수업을 진행하였다. 공감기반학습을 적용한 수업의 효과를 검증하기 위해 사용한 측정도구는 학교생활 공감척도, 학업참여척도였으며, 수집된 양적자료는 독립표본 t검증, 공분산분석 (ANCOVA)을 실시하였으며 질적 분석도 하였다. 그 결과 공감기반학습을 적용한 국어수업은 초등학생의 학교생활 공감과 학업참여 증진에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 실험집단의 교사의 면담조사와 학생들 소감문 내용을 분석한 결과, 공감기반학습은 학습이해, 수업집중, 의사소통, 대인관계 증진 등에도 도움이 됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 공감기반학습을 다른 교과목과 다른 학년에도 적용한 후 그 효과를 검증하여 공감기반학습의 확대 적용 가능성을 검토할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of Empathy Based Learning(EBL) model developed by Lee, You, and Lee(2014) by applying it to a elementary Korean class. Fifty 5th graders(25 for the experiment group and 25 for the control group) attending elementary school in Gyeonggi-do participated in this research. Those for the experiment group were given to the Korean class with EBL, and those for the control group were given to the usual Korean class. As measuring instruments to test the effect of class with EBL, school life empathy, academic engagement, and class satisfaction indicators were used. All the collected data were analysed with independent-samples t-test and ANCOVA. The result showed that the class with EBL was more effective for the increase of students school life empathy and academic than the usual one. This research proves that EBL has a positive effect on elementary Korean education. Also, it is necessary that EBL should be applied to other subjects and different year of students to see its general effectiveness.
