FTA 발효가 한국의 전자 및 자동차 산업에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국과 FTA상대국과의 전자산업과 자동차산업의 상품교역에서 FTA 발효 효과를 분석하는 것이다. 전자산업과 자동차산업은 한국의 제조업에서 차지하는 비중이 매우 높은 주력산업이기 때문에 FTA가 실질적으로 이들 산업에 이익을 가져다 주었는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국과 상대국간의 무역집중도와 무역특화도 분석을 통해 무역구조의 변화가 있는지 살펴보았다. 또한 교역량 분석을 위해 패널중력모형으로 전자산업과 자동차산업의 상품교역을 실증분석하였다. 그 결과 FTA 발효효과는 전자산업의 교역량 증대에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났으나 자동차산업에는 큰 영향을 주지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 FTA활용과 향후 연구에 대한 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Purpose : This study examines the effects of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in Electronic and Automobile industries between Korea and FTA contracting countries. Korea government has executed FTA with major trading countries. These industries have been the leading business in Korea. Research design, data, methodology : This study explains the trade structure and the trade statistics by utilizing two indexes: trade intensity index and trade specialization index. In addition, it uses an empirical analysis utilizing the panel gravity model. HS Code of WCO is utilized. Electronics are classified to chapter 85 while Automobiles are classified to chapter 87 of HS Code. We investigate the trade flows of these industries between Korea and FTA contracting countries after FTA enforcement. Results, conclusions : The results indicate that FTA has a positive effect in electronic industry. It is a conflicting result from the analysis of Trade Intensity Index and Trade Specialization Index. However, in automobile industry, FTA did not have an effect. It is the same result from the analysis of Trade Intensity Index in this paper.
