This research discusses the pin-on-disk test and the hardness test against the Fe-base low alloy powder sinter
to automotive transmission materials must provide high and stable friction, low noise and vibration, and high wear
resistance, under various conditions such as temperature, vehicle speed and pressure. To satisfy the above
requirements, several different material ingredients are usually combined to form complex friction materials. find
out the friction and wear characteristics, and the investigation on automotive transmission to establish the
theoretical friction and wear characteristics.
It was observed almost pearlite and Ni particle in sintered specimen and porosity which was characteristic of
sintered alloy. Surface of the carburization specimen was mostly martensite that was included micro porosity.
Tensile strength of sinter and carburization specimen was observed 592.5 MPa and 1173 MPa. In the case of
impact energy was showed 28.4J and 17.7J respectively. Average friction coefficient of sintered was reduced
largely compare with carburization specimen. Wear depth of sintered specimen was increased with load increment,
but an amount of increment was trifled in the case of carburization.
It was expected that was possible to improve friction and wear characteristics largely. Because of very micro
porosity by making powder form delayed oil long time in lubrication condition.
