영문 초록

In this article, we present a contrastive study of the conjecture expressions souda, youda, and rashii and their Korean counterparts through the analysis of Japanese novels and their Korean translations. Our findings are as follows. Firstly, in Japanese novels, youda is used most frequently(80.75%), followed by souda(15.29%) and rashii(3.96%). Secondly, our analysis of the meaning usage of each form reveals that the “manner” usage is observed only in souda, and that the “metaphorical” usage and the “illustrative” usage are found only in souda. Thirdly, the Japanese-Korean contrastive analysis shows that the “manner” usage of souda corresponds to “-인 듯하다,” the “metaphorical” usage and the “illustrative” usage of youda corresponds to “-같다,” “-처럼,” and “-듯.” Furthermore, as for the “conjecture” usage of each type, souda corresponds to “-일(할)것 같다,” youda corresponds to “-인 듯하다” and “-인 것 같다,” and rashii corresponds to “-인 것같다” and “-인 모양이다.” In particular, the “conjecture” usage of souda and youda can be in large part distinguished appropriately in the Korean counterparts. Based on these research results, we propose the map of conjecture expressions for Korean learners of the Japanese language.
