International politics o f today-global and regionalᅳwitnesses a series o f inconsistent unfolding o f conflict and cooperation among different countries. Therefore, they are not likely to be accurately predicted by even experts o f international politics. Thus, this paper attempts to identify in terms o f a marco-level perspective three o f different models o f the Northeast Asian international subsystems, namely, (1) the tight bipolar-hierarchical system during the 1950s, (2) the loose bipolar-mixed hierarchical system during the 1960s，and (3) the multipolar system during the 1970s and 1980s. Having identified these models, this paper examines certain patterns o f behavior between the nations involved in the Northeast Asia which are likely to be predicted under each o f the different systems. Finally, the impact o f the multipolar balance o f power subsystem in Northeast Asia on two Koreas foreign policy-making is discussed.
