국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 현행 인성교육의 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 백워드 설계를 통한 교과교육과 인성교육의 통합적 접근을 제안하는 것이다. 이와 같은 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 관련 문헌 연구를 통해 인성교육 및 인성교육요소에 대해 정의하고 현행 인성교육의 문제점과 백워드 설계의 특징 및 주요 절차를 분석하였다. 그리고 교과교육과 인성교육의 통합을 위한 백워드 설계의 관련성을 살펴본 뒤, 백워드 설계를 적용하여 인성교육을 위한 초등학교 3학년 국어과 단원을 개발하고 적용상의 유의점을 제안하였다. 연구결과, 백워드 설계에 기반 한 교과교육의 토대 위에 인성교육 요소들이 통합된 인성교육단원을 개발하였으며 인성교육을 위한 단원 개발 과정의 유의점으로 수업 설계에 대한 교사의 인식 전환, 이해의 여섯 측면 중 관점과 공감 및 적용에 초점, 평가의 강조를 추출하였다. 교과의 심층적이고 진정한 이해를 바탕으로 교과에 통합된 인성교육요소에 대한 이해와 내면화를 통해 인성교육의 목적을 달성할 수 있으리라 기대된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to approach integrative subject matter education and character education through backward design in order to solve the problems of character education. To achieve such purpose, this article examined the problems of current character education and analyzed characteristics and key procedures of backward design. Then, after examining the correlation between backward design and integration of subject matter education and character education, developed, by applying backward design, the character education unit for elementary school 3rd grade Korean language subject. To do that, this article critically analyzed literature related to character education and backward design, and adopted Short’s integrated approach. And this article pointed to, as matters to note in applying, ‘transition in teacher’s perception of lesson plans,’ ‘focus on perspective, emphasis and application’ out of the six facets of understanding, and ‘emphasis on assessment.’ And it is expected that the approach integrating subject matter education and character education through backward design will make it possible to achieve the purpose of character education through internalizing elements of character education based on in-depth, genuine understanding of the subject.
