국문 초록

본 연구에서는 1978년 8월 30일부터 2016년 11월 27일까지 한반도에서 발생한 1,450개의 지진 자료를 이용하여 지진에너지의 시간적 변화와 Gutenberg-Richter법칙의 매개변수와의 관계를 조사하였다. 200개의 지진과 새로운 지진 50개를 추가 적용하여 26개의 샘플 별 지진 규모의 분포를 분석하였으며, 분석 결과 지진 에너지는 규모 4.0 이상의 상대적으로 큰 지진의 발생에 있어서 강한 우측 편기(positive skewness)의 변화를 보였다. 한편, G-R법칙의 상수인 a-와 b-값은 이전 연구 대비 편기됨이 없이 정상 범위의 값을 나타냈다. 결과적으로 볼 때 지진 에너지의 패턴은 본 연구에서 제안된 LEL 모형의 패턴과 거의 일치하였고, 활성 및 비활성 기간이 교차로 나타나며 준 안정적인 상태를 유지하였다.

영문 초록

In this study the temporal variation of the earthquake energy and its relation with parameters of the Gutenberg-Richter law was examined using the 1,450 earthquake data occurred on the Korean peninsula from August 30, 1978 through November 27, 2016. Using a 200-event window, which slides by 50 events a sequence of 26 consecutive samples were analyzed and the earthquake energy showed significant variation with strong positive skewness. Meanwhile, parameters a- and b-values of the G-R law showed normal range of values without significant skewness consistent with previous studies. The sequence of the earthquake energy revealed a stationary metastability with alternating active and inactive periods, which closely matched with the pattern of the LEL earthquake energy model proposed in this study.
