유교 인성교육론의 현대적 이해를 통한 ‘성찰(Reflection)’의 원리

국문 초록

본 연구는 심성ㆍ수양론을 위시한 유교의 인성교육론에 집중함으로써, 이로부터 제기되는 성찰의 구체적인 방법적 원리에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 이를 위해 이 글은 다음의 내용을 다루고 있다. 첫째, 성리학 공부에서 도덕적 인간형성의 두 가지 경로로 설정된 함양과 성찰에 대하여 그 의미와 교섭 양태에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 둘째, 격물치지와 활연관통을 인간형성의 연속성과 단속성이라는 측면에 집중함으로써 그 의미를 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 통해 이 글은 다음과 같은 두 가지 시사를 제시 하고 있다. 유교의 인성교육론은 첫째, 성찰에 관한 구체적인 방법적 원리로서 ‘선험적 직관에 의한 성찰’과 ‘경험적 반성에 의한 성찰’이라는 두 가지 경로를 시사하고 있으며, 둘째, 시간성에 의거한 성찰의 원리로서 연속과 단속의 양가성과, 아울러 단속적 인간형성으로서의 성찰의 구체적인 원리에 관한 시사를 제공하고 있다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the theory of humanity education of Confucianism, including the theory of mindfulness, and discusses the concrete methodological principle of reflection from it. To this end, this article covers: First, we will examine the significance and the mode of intercourse for cultivation and reflection that are set up as two paths of moral human formation in the study of Confucianism. Second, we will examine the meaning of ‘investigation of things and extension of knowledge(格物致知)’, and ‘understanding brightly and find enlightenment(豁然貫通)’ by focusing on continuity and monotony of human formation. In this study, we present two suggestions: First, Confucian humanity education theory suggests two ways of concrete methodical principle of reflection: ‘reflection by a priori intuition’ and ‘reflection by empirical reflection’. Second, it provides a suggestion about the duality of consecutive and crackdown as a principle of reflection based on time gender, as well as concrete principles of reflection as intermittent human formation.
