영문 초록

This is a case report of adenoid cystic carcinoma occurred in the right buccal mucosa near the orifice of Stensen s duct. The patient, 50 years-old female was admitted to Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Chunnam University Hospital with the complaint of painless abnormal swelling in the right buccal mucosa area. The radical excision and irradiation therapy were performed. The summary and results are as follows; 1. The primary site of adenoid cystic carcinoma was the right buccal mucosa which was known as rare common site of origin among minor salivary glands. 2. There were no evidence of neural or perineural invasion, destruction or erosion of the contiguous bone (ramus of the mandible or maxillary tuberosity), and also no evidence of metastasis to the lung or cervical lymph node. 3. Postoperative complications, such as facial deformity, paralysis of right buccal cheek area, paresthesia of the upper lip and limitation of the mouth opening, were seen. 4. On the basis of clinical staging (Stage Ⅱ) and histopathologic grading (Grade Ⅰ), it seems that prognosis will be good but follow up over the years should be required.
