A clinical and statistical study of submandibular stones

국문 초록

경기도 북부지역의 중심인 의정부시 소재 가톨릭대학교 성모병원과 경기도 남부지역의 중심인 안양시 소재 중앙병원에 1990년 3울부터 1995년 2월까지 내원하여 치과, ENT에서 진단된 42증례를 분석하여 다음과 같은 견해를 얻었기에 보고하는 바이다. 1. 성별 발생빈도는 납자에서 호발하였고(69%), 연령별로는 30대가 가장 많았으며(35.7%), 20대, 40대, 10대의 순위였다. 2. 부위별로는 주로 Wharton s duct에서 발생되었다(76.2%). 3. 타석의 수는 1개인 경우가 대부분이었으며(78.6%). 2개, 3개의 순으로 호발하였다. 4. 타석의 크기는 2.1~6.0mm 범위내가 가장 많았고(55.8%) 그 다음은 6.1~10.0mm 범위내가 많았다(28.8%).

영문 초록

The salivary stone can be found in all salivary glands or ducts but mainly in the submandibular gland or duct. The submandibular glandular system is more susceptible to sialolith formation because of its unique physiologic and anatomic characteristic. The authors performed the analysis of 42 cases of salivary stones which were diagnosed and treted from March 1990 to February 1995 in our departments and the departments of ENT in the Uijongbu St. Mary s Hospital and Anyang Medical Center. The results were as follows: 1. Age and sex distributions were more predominently third decade(35.7%) and male(69.0%) respectively. 2. Site distributions were more common at Wharton s duct (76.2%). 3. Number of calculi varied form 1 to 4, and a single stone was most commonly present in the cases(78.6). 4. Most sizes of the stones were 2.1~6.0mm(55.8%) and the shapes were mostly globular or spindly.
