The public awareness on dam construction is changing from a positive view to a negative view, as a business causes the various environmental problems. Against this background, this study is to provide a more accurate method of value estimation of multipurpose dams with environmental consideration.
As a case study of measuring environmental damage by dam construction, the damage cost of water quality of So-Yang dam was about 5 billion Won per year in Chun-Cheon city, estimated by using Contingent Valuation Method. In 1974, B/C ratio of the So-Yang dam construction was 1.42 or 1.23. However, if we consider the deterioration of water quality, B/C ratio would be 1.08 or 0.97. This means that environmental consideration in B/C analysis is critical.
