국문 초록

K-MOOC이 점차 대중화 되고 있는 시점에서 효과적 수업 지원을 위해 수강자들이 어떤 동기를 가지고 수업을 등록하고, 완료하는지를 파악하는 것은 매우 중요하 다. 본 연구의 목적은 K-MOOC 수강자들의 수강 동기와 지속 동기를 탐색하는데 있다. 연구를 위해 S대학교에서 개설하여 운영된 두 개의 K-MOOC 강좌의 수강 완료자를 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하였고, 설문 완료자 115명의 데이터를 유형적 분석 방법을 적용하여 질적으로 분석하였다. 데이터 분석 결과 동기(Motivation), 수업(class), 콘텐츠(content) 세 가지 유형을 중심으로, K-MOOC 수강자들의 초기 수강 동기와 지속 및 완료 동기에 대한 의미론적 관계를 발견하였다. K-MOOC 초기 수강동기는 학습자의 개인적 특성과 필요에 따라 다양한 형태를 보여주었다. 또한, 수강 과정에서 K-MOOC이 특화된 고급 콘텐츠를 제공한다는 인식이 지속되고, 스스로 지식을 재구성하거나 수정 및 확장하는 경험을 하게 될 때 수강자들은 강좌에 대한 흥미를 유지하며 수강을 완료하는 경향이 있었다. 더불어 수강자 완료자들은 K-MOOC 수강을 선택하였던 초기 동기가 수업을 마칠 때까지 계속해서 지속되는 특징을 보여주었다. 끝으로, K-MOOC 수강자의 동기를 지원할 수 있는 교수학습방 법을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

As the number of participants enrolled in Korea-Massive Open Online Courses (K-MOOCs) has been increased, identifying K-MOOC learners’ motivation is significant to support their learning experiences. The purpose of the study was to examine K-MOOC learners’ initial motivation for enrollment and continuing motivation for completion. An online survey was administered to two K-MOOCs developed and operated by a university in South Korea. A total of 115 K-MOOC completers voluntarily participated in the survey. K-MOOC learners’ initial motivation for enrollment and continuing motivation for completion were explained with three themes, such as motivation, class, and content. K-MOOC learners’ initial motivation for enrollment were vary depending on individual differences and their needs. In addition, K-MOOC leaners tended to continue to complete the course perceiving that they learned high quality content and they restructured or expanded their existing knowledge. Furthermore, K-MOOC completers tended to keep their initial motivation for enrollment until they finish the course. Discussions and suggestions were made to support K-MOOC participants’ learning experiences.
